Best Fish of the Season yet again!
Gavin Wishart (N. Ireland) caught a fish estimated (by gillie Connie Corcoran)
at 14-15lb. on fly at the Lug Pool on Lower Kilmurry on August 7th.
It was a May fish which was slightly coloured & was released.

The 2010 Season so far
On the 19th. August, we caught our 300th. salmon of the Season!

  Season Total:  304 for 820 rod days to August 23.
   August Total:    94 for 207 rod days to the 23rd.     
     July Total:  168 for 183 rod days                       
(the best July total since 2000 when 263 were caught for 750 rod days)

New Best Catch from One Beat
in One Day:

Three rods caught nine fish
at Woodstream.

 - mostly grilse around the 4-6lb. mark.
All were caught on spinner and all nine fish were released alive.

Best Day of the Season so far:

A total of 23 fish were caught
for 15 rod days.

Beat   1:    1 caught.
Beat   2:    3 caught.
Beat   4:    1 caught. 
Beat 11:    9 caught. All spinner, all released.
Beat 12:    4 caught.
Beat 16:    5 caught.


Second Best of Season!

Mossy McElligott - 12.4lb.
Tim Quinlivan - 11,9 & 9.1lb.
All on fly on Beat 3 - Ballinaroone.

Best Catch from One Beat
in One Day:

Two rods caught eight fish
at Bridgetown Abbey.

 - mostly grilse around the 3lb. mark.
Six were caught on fly & two on spinner.
All eight fish were released alive.
Mick Kennedy caught 5 (best ~6lb.)
& Billy Jewitt caught three. 
Seven of the fish were caught in a 2 hour "moment of madness".

Best Day of the Season so far:

A total of 20 fish were caught
for 11 rod days.

Beat 3:    4 caught. 1 on fly.  Best 9.7 & 11lb.
Beat 7:    4 caught. All on fly. Best 6.5lb.
Beat 8:    1 caught.  4lb.
Beat 9:    8 caught. 6 on fly & all released.
                Best 6lb.
Beat 16:  3 caught. 1 on fly. Best 6lb. 
 


On July 12,
Otis Ferry from the UK caught this
sea-liced 11.7 pounder
on fly on the
Island Stream
on Lower Kilmurry
- and it was only
his second ever salmon!

 


Took this picture just below the Lodge at 08.00 this morning, July 22.
Looks as if this will be the last of the wet weather for a while
& that the river will come into cracking order now there are big runs of fish !

Best Fish of the Season on September 15 - ~25lb.
Second Best Fish of the Season on September 18 - 19.1lb.
                              

                                   
Best Day of the Season on August 23 - 25 fish to 12.2lb.
Second Best Day of the Season on August   9 - 17 fish to 11.9lb.
  Third Best Day of the Season on August   7 - 16 fish to 13.1lb.

Third Best Ever Month of May and Best since 1996 - 53 fish caught.
More than double the number of fish caught for June (51) compared to June last year (21) !

All-time Records beaten in 2008

Catch for One Day:
September 13th. - 55 Salmon & Grilse to 12lb. taken for 41 rods.
                       (of which 26 were released alive).
This beat the previous record of 52 held since August 15, 1992.
One 6 rod novice party all caught their first salmon during the day.

August Catch:

422 -
which beat the previous record of 377 established in 1992.

First Salmon:
61 first ever salmon caught, beating the previous record of 52 in 1998.
The number of first salmon as a %age of the rod days was also the
highest ever recorded at 3.25, beating the previous record of 2.9 in 1992

Third Best ever September catch:
420
- (of which 227 were released alive)

Second Highest Catch per Rod Day for Season
0.53 - which was only beaten by 0.89 in 1992

Biggest Fish of the Season: 
September 11th. Taken on spinner on Lower Kilmurry - 15.8lb.

Purple Patch!
301 caught in the 13 days from Aug. 15-27 for 237 rod days.

Huge Number of First Ever Salmon Caught!
No less than 62 anglers caught their first ever salmon with us in 2008.


 

Fly-Fishing.
Superb water for fly fishing.  Learn flycasting with our instructors - from beginner to advanced spey casting. 
Fly-only anglers don't share beats with spin/bait anglers. 
No beat over-crowding.  Normal limit: Two fly anglers per beat.


Spin / Bait fishing.

Superb water for spinning or bait fishing.

The Lodge offers gillie/guide service and has its own tackle shop and smokery.
