Blackwater Lodge Newsletter - July 29th., 2013

The River freshens up & catches improve..........

Second Best Day of Season yesterday!

This is the Blackwater below the Lodge today. The Ballyduff gauge on 0.26m!

After a 6 week drought we have finally had some quite heavy rain which started on July 23
& the forecast is continuing broken well into the coming week.

Whilst there hasn’t been any significant rise in the river, the water has certainly freshened up.
Sea-liced grilse are running through to the upper beats, which promises well for sport for the coming week.

The week before last was a blank, but we have taken 16 grilse for just 34 rod days
for the week to July 28th., including the Joint Second Best Day of 2013 yesterday (28th.),
when seven grilse were caught – 6 of which were on fly.

Prospects
The weather will continue broken right through the coming week. See the 5 Day Forecast.
With fish now coming on the take, we should have some good sport in the coming week.

Availability of both fishing & accommodation is OK in the coming weeks.

Season Extension
Don't forget that we once again have an extension to the season this year until October 12th.
As last year, the 12 days in October will be fly only and catch & release.

Great Value Fishing!

We are seeing a great increase in the number of anglers visiting since we made our fishing more affordable. (2013 Price List)

Fishing in June is just €60, July €70 & August, September & October €80.  B&B is also only €35/person sharing.
There is no problem for fishing & accommodation availability in the coming weeks until September when it is very limited.
There is more availability for the season extension to October 12th.
